Rates

I just want to start this off by making one thing very clear: you do not work for free and neither do I.  It always amazes me how people expect to find writers willing to work for free.  The ones worth any money aren't.  That being said, I understand that some of the rates I see online can be a bit unreasonable, and my object is not to be unreasonable.  My object is just to feed, clothe, and shelter my family, the same as yours is at the end of the day.  So, after a bit of market research, my rates start as follows:

Editing Services
$8 per page

Writing Services
$20-25 per page depending on project length

Re-writing services (you have written manuscript already and need re-written)
$15 per page

Hourly rate
$30 an hour

A "page" means a 250 word, double spaced page.

Hourly rate refers to any time necessary for research, or time spent planning with you.

Billing Practices

Only a writer with an accounting degree would even have outlined billing practices right?  Of course I am, and so I do.  What we'll do is speak regarding your project initially-initial consultation is free-and determine a length and time requirement together that we think is reasonable to expect.  At that time I'll require at least a one-third payment up front to begin work.  From there we can structure following payments.  Again, I can be very flexible.  If you'd like to make a payment when I'm a third done, or split payments into four to make them more manageable, I'm open to that.  If you want to do just half up front and half at the end, that's fine as well.  We will figure out a balanced pay schedule that works for all.  Please contact me if you have any questions at randy.c.lutz@gmail.com
